"Getting to Know" Ka‘elepulu Stream

National Water Monitoring Day

Where is Ka‘elepulu Stream? (opens in a new window)

Community members joined the KBAC in testing the waters of Ka‘elepulu Canal (near Buzz's) in Kailua on Saturday October 19, 2002. The water monitoring was in conjunction with the National Water Monitoring Day, celebrating the 30th anniversary and the accomplishments of the Clean Water Act.

Participants tested for dissolved oxygen, pH, temperature, and turbidity. Participants also used the KBAC Stream Awareness Survey and look at the clarity of the water, stream life, channel and streamside features and nearby land use!
