Executive Session Meeting Minutes

This meeting constitutes a special session for the purpose of discussing and making decisions regarding KBAC contractors.  Therefore this meeting was conducted in Executive Session.

I.  CALL TO ORDER

Acting Chair Christine Woolaway called the meeting to order at 7:05 pm.  There was a quorum.

Attendance:

1. Board members present: Scott Derrickson, Jeffrey Harris, Mark Heckman, Toby

    Rushforth, Ronald Walker, Donna Wong and Christine Woolaway.   Board member

    excused:  Benjamin Kama.

2.  Director:  Maile Bay.

Reminder:  The rotation of acting chair will occur in November.  The new acting chair will be Scott Derrickson.  The next acting chair will need to be chosen by and from among the City and County representatives.

II.ADMINISTRATIVE BUSINESS –

A.  Discussion on RFPs

1. Education – Eleven proposals were received in this category.  The Board

               approved funding or partial funding of six proposals subject to negotiations

               between the KBAC director and proposers.

2. Restoration  - Seven proposals were received in this category. The Board

               approved funding or partial funding of two proposals subject to negotiations

               between the KBAC director and proposers.

           B. Coordinator Positions

1.      GIS Coordinator – This position will be re-advertised and placed in Midweek on October 1^st with a close date of October 12^th.

2.      Education Coordinator – This position will be re-advertised and placed in

      Midweek on October 1^st with a close date of October 31^st.

C.  Additional Funds from the City – Heckman moved, seconded by Harris, to have the

     Director send a letter to the City requesting additional funds.  It was unanimously

     approved.

III.  Meetings for the rest of the quarter - Meetings will be held:

            October 24, 2001        -           Waikiki Aquarium        

            (Wednesday)                            6 p.m. to interview Coordinator position (executive session)

            November 17, 2001     -           Kokokahi YWCA

(Saturday)                                Public meeting on KBAC Master Plan/WRAS (tentative date)

            January 23, 2002          -           Windward Community College (public meeting)

IV.  ADJOURNMENT

            The meeting was adjourned at 10:30 pm.
