| As communities continue practices directly linked to water quality issues there is a need to increase awareness about our natural resources in order to change our behavior towards caring for the watersheds in which we live. The LET Academy facilitated the development of a multimedia website by windward K-12 students that provides an overview of the Ko‘olaupoko region through it's eleven ahupua'a and each of their unique physical, natural and cultural resources. The process positioned students as stewards as they researched how community members, including themselves, impact their ahupua‘a and the need to establish a watershed ethic for our time. Visit the koolaupoko.com site! The LET Academy is a non-profit 501(c)3 Hawai‘i organization whose goal is to facilitate multimedia project development in centers of learning that address community issues in the context of achieving curricular goals. We invite you to visit current award winning sites. |
