Ahahui Malama i ka Lokahi
December 15, 2001 - February 29, 2004
Contractor Picture
Volunteers help ‘Ahahui Malama i ka Lokahi remove vegetation covering the marsh to create open water for wetland plants and animals.

‘Ahahui Mālama I ka Lōkahi (AML), a non-profit corporation, is studying and restoring an island in Kawai Nui Marsh under its KBAC contract. AML is studying both the water quality that enters the marsh and the quality that leaves the marsh, comparing the results, and also the seasonal fluctuation patterns of the mud under the vegetation. In its restoration efforts, AML is replanting one of the islands in the marsh to make it more attractive to native bird use.

Please call Chuck Burrows for more information about this project.
