KBAC Community Stream Walk and Awareness Survey

Saturday, March 27, 2004 9:30 am - 12:00 noon
( )

You are invited to see the environmental stewardship activities being conducted at Marine Corps Base Hawaii, Kaneohe Bay on Saturday, March 27, 2004.

This walk will highlight the Marines' efforts to improve the health of the Mokapu watershed. Included will be a visit to the Nu‘upia Ponds -- an ancient Hawaiian fishpond complex and an important endangered Hawaiian stilt habitat.

Come learn what is being done and what the plans are for further improvements. The MCBH environmental staffer leading the walk can tell you how you can volunteer to help, and there will be a chance to test the waters using KBAC's visual awareness survey!

This walk is free and open to the public, but space is limited to the first 15 responders. Wear walking shoes, and bring sunscreen and bug repellant. Refreshments will be provided.

RSVP by March 24 to Mike McMahon, KBAC's Community Coordinator, at 342-4548 or e-mail him at mcmahon1@hawaii.rr.com.

NOTE: Information such as Social Security Numbers must be collected to ensure access onto the base.
